A timber-framed wilderness lodge

The deck at Wild Bear Lodge

The lodge was rebuilt in 2014 from square-cut beams using traditional timber-framing techniques on the base of the old family home.

No expense was spared and the best local artisans worked on the framing and finishing.

The front of the lodge is almost entirely of glass giving expansive views over the garden and the river beyond.

At different times we have had moose, cougars, grizzly and black bears and porcupines walk past our front window.

The best of modern and traditional

Heating the main house at Wild Bear Lodge

There is wireless internet in the lodge as well as use of a small nature library and a variety of wildlife documentaries.

We also serve breakfast and dinner in the main dining room on two hefty wooden tables made by a neighbour who is a friend and a high-end carpenter.

After dinner we usually arrange for a presentation about the wildlife that live in the area or some other aspect of our wilderness environment.
