What to Bring

What to bring on your holiday

  • A good water-shedding jacket. For wildlife viewing the jacket should be in a natural colour.
  • At least one warm layer (that fits under your outer jacket).
  • Sensible water-resistant walking shoes or hiking boots.
  • Synthetic trousers are recommended.
  • Hat and gloves (in the spring and autumn).
  • Sunscreen.
  • Sunglasses (especially in the summer).
  • Swimwear (in the summer).
  • Sandals or trainers (in the summer for rafting.)
  • A compact waterproof camera is ideal. If you wish to bring an SLR or other expensive non-waterproof cameras we don’t recommend you take them on the rafts or on high country hikes.
  • Car hire companies charge a significant supplement for use of GPS or Satnav. You don’t need one. If you would like a Satnav/GPS for the duration of your trip, and you have an iPhone, we recommend downloading the Tom Tom US-Canada app. The one-off cost is around $60 and the app works without internet or cell phone reception. You may need a car adaptor for your iPhone as the app does use significant battery power.
